Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.

This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

What Defines the Combat Party

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The warrior and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party enter places they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The healer defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.

This leaves them few options but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
